Rumored Joey Bosa move leaves Colts with an easy decision to make

With the 2026 NFL Draft in the history books, the Indianapolis Colts can't afford to rest on their laurels. The roster looks much better now than it did a month ago, but even the best things can be improved.

General manager Chris Ballard should still be looking to add more firepower to the pass-rushing department. And even though most prime options are no longer available, Joey Bosa could give this team a major boost.

According to Pro Football Network's Jacob Infante, the Colts are one of five potential landing spots for the five-time Pro Bowler. And while that doesn't necessarily mean they're actually interested in his services, they definitely should.

The Indianapolis Colts should make a run at Joey Bosa

"There’s a chance J.T. Tuimoloau takes a leap after a disappointing rookie year, but Bosa would give the Colts the depth they need," Infante wrote.

Let's get the negative out of the way first. Yes, Bosa has struggled with a myriad of injuries for most of his career. Yes, he's already 30 and about to enter his 11th season in the league. Yes, his projected market value of $13.7 million might be a bit too high. All of that's fair.

However, Bosa has been mostly healthy for the past couple of years. He's played in 29 of 34 potential games, including 15 last season, and he was a Pro Bowler just two years ago. Last season, he led the league with five forced fumbles, and he's logged at least five sacks in three consecutive years.

As for the price tag, the Colts are sitting on $32.6 million in cap space, per Over The Cap. Also, after waiting for so long to get a new deal, perhaps he can be talked into taking a bit of a pay cut or getting an incentives-based contract.

Bosa might no longer be one of the top headhunters in the game, but he's always been a productive player when he's been on the field. More importantly, he would be a significant upgrade over almost every guy on the Colts' current pass-rushing unit. His five sacks last season would've been second on the team in 2025.

They don't even need him to be an every-down type of guy or a long-term answer to their woes, but with a much-improved AFC South, not adding another proven takedown artist like him might come back to haunt this team. As much as he'd come with some risks, he's probably the best of the bunch in free agency.
